In Excel, the most common method to fill cells with the same data is to drag the Autofill handle (the square in the bottom right corner of the cell) down or across:

To fill cells D3:D10 with NHS you can double-click or click and drag the Autofill handle.
There is an alternative method where you can ask Excel to fill all the selected cells with the data you type in.
First, select all the cells you want to fill:

Select all the cells you want to fill with the same data
Next, type the value you want to see in each cell:

The data looks like it will only appear in the first cell
Finally, press CTRL + Enter(or press CTRL and click on the green tick):

When you press CTRL + Enter Excel will fill all the selected cells with the same value.
This also works when the cells you've selected aren't next to each other!

Select the multiple areas using CTRL and then when you type the data and press CTRL + Enter - all the separate areas will contain the same data.
