Wise Owl Website - Privacy Policy (Cookies)

At Wise Owl we try to be as transparent as possible in everything we do, so we've listed below how and why we use cookies.  Being a training company, however, we can't resist a little digression first on what a cookie actually is ...

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files which are websites store on your computer.  Here's what one looks like:

Cookie example

I don't remember ever visiting the Air France website on my laptop, but the Cookie Monster says otherwise.

Here's what the TCID cookie shown above contains:

Contents of cookie

This cookie probably tracks my visits to the Air France website, and will expire on 19th November 2018.

As to what the content 201711171155171883575963 means - for that you'd have to ask those good people at Air France!

How we use cookies

That's what cookies are; now how and why do we use them?  There are two ways:

Area Notes
Shopping basket If you look to buy anything from our website (be it classroom training courses, online training or anything else) we'll create a cookie containing the contents of your shopping basket, and store it on your computer.
Google analytics In common with the vast majority of websites, we use Google Analytics to keep track of visits to our website, so that we can analyse search traffic and referrals.  We only ever do this at the level of aggregated data.
Better browsing Although at the time of writing we don't do this, we may in the future use cookies to tailor the content we show to you (again, this is common practice for websites), to make your browsing experience on our website more useful and more personalised.

If you have any concerns about how we use cookies, please feel free to email us with your questions!
