You need a minimum screen resolution of about 700 pixels width to see our exercises. This is because they contain diagrams and tables which would not be viewable easily on a mobile phone or small laptop. Please use a larger tablet, notebook or desktop computer, or change your screen resolution settings.
Press CTRL + D to add the file called frmBMI.vb from the above folder into your project (or right click on the project and choose to add it as an existing item).
Change your project's properties to make this the default form for your project.
Attach code to the button to calculate your body mass index (BMI) so that it looks like this:
Private Sub btnShowBmi_Click(sender As Object, e As EventArgs)
Handles btnShowBmi.Click
'call function to show result
MessageBox.Show("Your BMI is " + BMI.ToString("0.00"))
End Sub
ReadOnly Property BMI As Double
Get
'return someone's BMI, based on their weight and height
Return PersonWeight / (PersonHeight * PersonHeight)
End Get
End Property
Of course, you'll have to create the PersonWeight and PersonHeight properties too ...
Here's what you should see when you run your system:
![]() |
![]() |
Type in your details ... | ... to show your BMI |
That's it!
