When creating a data model in Power BI, there are times when we need to use tables but don’t want them to be part of the final model.
I need the addresses in the Confidential table for filtering but don't want them to be visible in the report.
If I do nothing then the table is imported and anyone with access to the file has this data!
Uh-oh I am in trouble this time.
To prevent this, open the Query Editor, right-click on the target table, and untick Enable Load. This will stop the table from being loaded into the model.
You’ll notice the tick disappears, and the table name switches to italics.
Click Close & Apply to return to the report view. You’ll see that the table has been unloaded.
Now, only users with access to the original data source will be able to retrieve the table’s contents.
