Open a blank Power BI file and import Gym Class Data.xlsx from the folder shown above.
Add a pie chart with the following columns.
Note the hierarchy in the Legend bucket.
Activate Drilldown by using either the Visual header or Data/Drill tab in the ribbon.
Visual header.
Data/Drill tab.
Click a Location in the pie chart, then click a Class. You should now see daily attendances.
Fridays are busy for Bootcamp at Swinton gym.
You can always check what you are actually seeing by hovering over the funnel icon in the chart's Visual header.
Save the file as Down at the gym.pbix

Seems pretty straight forward... except for the fact that we need to create a column for the day of the week + another for the weekday to sort correctly the day of the week ?
Unless I am missing something obvious.
More importantly, why, why is there no key to press while clicking, to drill up and down smoothly in a pie chart ? Why do we need to click in a thousand places, on teeny tiny icons, to get to the point ?
I wish I could VBA this thing...
P.S : both Google and ChatGPT mention a Alt + Shift + Down Arrow/Up for certain visuals (not the Pie one) but for me this only moves the vizual.
A friend tells me this would work after creating a hierarchy but I feel pretty anarchist as of now.

Hi Orin,
You are correct in that you need to create the 2 columns. The exercises are designed to test yourself after attending one of our courses so I don't always give you everything you need, instead preferring to let users work out for themselves what may be required.
For Drillthrough & Drilldown have you considered switching on Modern Visual Tooltips in the preview features of Power BI? This will give you the option to Drilldown or Drillthrough via a tooltip which is much easier to use.
