Part one of a six-part series of blogs

This month's update brings customisable markers for Azure maps, a new colour picker and the ability to reset part of the formatting only for a visual.

The January 2026 version of Power BI brings the following changes:

Change	Details
Azure map markers	You can now customise icons (or, theoretically, images) as markers on Azure maps.
Resetting formatting	It's now possible to reset the formatting for a group of properties for a visual.
Colour picker improvements	There are a few minor improvements to the standard Power BI colour picker.
Deprecated Q&A visual	The Q&A visual is being removed after December 2026.
Modern visual tooltips released	These have been turned on for some time now, but are now officially on general release.

Just for posterity's sake, here are the things currently in preview:

The options ticked may not be the default ones, as I play about with Power BI when writing these blogs and can't remember which options I've ticked and unticked!
