The image visual has received some TLC from Microsoft, and now has its own separate visual icon to reflect this:

The new dedicated Image visual tool.

Here is an image showing some of the effects you can set:

This image has got rounded corners for all but the top left one, a red border and a green background where transparent.

There are also more options for fitting and editing images, as this screen-shot shows:

Will many people know enough about images to use these properties?

My own feeling is that - like so many other visuals - images now have too many formatting options, making the Power BI Desktop software harder to use.

One thing Microsoft are keen to stress from their update blog is that you know longer need to delete a visual to update its image. I must admit that I never knew you had to in the past!
