Power BI Desktop updates for November 202 Part two of a four-part series of blogs |
|---|
|
The November 2025 update permanently introduces the new card visual, makes changes to the image visual and brings automatic column widths to matrices.
|
The new card visual has finally muscled out its predecessor:

The old Card and Multi-card visuals have disappeared, to be replaced by the new Card visual.
I covered the new card visual when it was first announced way back in June 2023:

An example of the sort of results you can get with the "new" visual.
Since this blog, there's one big new feature - you can now have a couple of different pictures on a card:

The top picture is to do with one of the statistics being displayed on the card and is called a callout image; the bottom one is to do with the card itself, and is called a hero image.
You can set the hero image as one of the main formatting properties of a card visual:

Expand the Image card above to apply a picture to the entire card.
By contrast, to set the image for any statistic you have to expand the Callout card first:

If you're setting images for individual statistics you can choose whether to display them for all of the statistics, or just one of them.
I think Microsoft occasionally hold on to legacy features in Power BI Desktop for too long, so it's good to see the card situation being finally resolved.
