You need a minimum screen resolution of about 700 pixels width to see our exercises. This is because they contain diagrams and tables which would not be viewable easily on a mobile phone or small laptop. Please use a larger tablet, notebook or desktop computer, or change your screen resolution settings.
To avoid having to draw the form needed for this exercise, right-click on the name of your project in Solution Explorer then choose Add --> Existing Item... (you can also press SHIFT + ALT + A to do the same thing).
Choose only the file called frmBMI.cs in the above folder to import it into your project (you may have to choose to overwrite existing files at this stage), then edit Program.cs to make this the default form.
Attach code to the button to calculate your body mass index (BMI) so that it looks like this:
private void btnShowBmi_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
// call function to show result
MessageBox.Show("Your BMI is " + BMI.ToString("0.00"));
}
double BMI {
get {
return weight / (height * height);
}
}
Of course, there are a few other properties (not shown here) that you'll need to write to get this to work ...
Here's what you should see when you run your system:
![]() |
![]() |
Type in your details ... | ... to show your BMI |
Close down the application and any open forms.
