Use a cube to create a report with two parameters

This exercise is provided to allow potential course delegates to choose the correct Wise Owl Microsoft training course, and may not be reproduced in whole or in part in any format without the prior written consent of Wise Owl.

Before you can do this exercise, you'll need to download and unzip this file.

If you haven't already done so, restore the database in the above folder into Analysis Services in Management Studio (not for copying or commercial use). The database should contain 3 dimensions and one cube called MAM.

Create a report listing out the following bits of information:

The report should show the date, species and quantity for transactions.

Add a calculated field called TransDate which applies the CDate function to the transaction date, to turn it into a proper date.

Now add parameters to the top of your report so that it lists all of the sales after a given date, with a given minimum number:

Give the two parameters default values as shown above.

Here's what a typical report could look like:

The sales of 10 or more items from Christmas Day 2014 onwards.

Now add a title to your report to show the choices you've made:

The title you could see for the choices made above.

Finally, use the No Rows section of the tablix item to display a message like this if you choose a combination of parameters for which there is no data:
