We've been creating our idiosyncratic monthly blogs on Power BI updates since November 2016, and also deliver online and classroom Power BI courses.

What's new in the July 2023 Power BI update

This is a fairly small update - unless you're an avid user of line and area charts that is. The update includes these features:

New feature	Notes
Line smoothing	You can now show line and area charts with smoothed or stepped lines.
Leader lines	You can show connector lines between data points and their data labels.
On-object interaction	This is still in preview, but it's such a huge change that I've included it here just to prove it's uppermost in our Power BI minds!

Please, Satya Nadella, put us out of our misery and give us a firm release date for on-object interaction!
