Power BI Desktop updates for May 2025 Part five of a five-part series of blogs |
---|
A month which sees minor changes to line segments, Azure maps, calculation groups and TMDL model view, and major changes in preview for Copilot and something called "translytical task flows".
|
Consider the not-so-humble Azure map:
A map showing total sales by point of sale.
You can now turn on or off certain key things in base maps:
See below for what each means.
Here's what these mean for UK users of Power BI Desktop:
Base map feature | Significance |
---|---|
Labels | You've always been able to hide or display place name labels. |
Country borders | This will only affect the Irish border, between Northern Ireland and the Republic. |
State or province borders | This will hide or display the borders between England, Scotland and Wales. |
County borders | This will only have any effect if you've added a layer to your map showing county boundaries. |
Buildings | Hide or display the little boxes showing where buildings are. |
Road details | Hide or display the minor roads from a view (it won't remove all roads). |
Here's the same map with all and none of the boxes above ticked:
The one on the left has everything shown, the one on the right everything hidden (the buildings won't show up till you zoom in).
As always to do with anything to do with Azure maps, it's consumers of Power BI within the United States who'll derive the greatest benefit from these changes.
