This exercise is provided to allow potential course delegates to choose the correct Wise Owl Microsoft training course, and may not be reproduced in whole or in part in any format without the prior written consent of Wise Owl.
Many of our Postgres SQL exercises depend on our music database of artists, albums, tours and shows. Here's how to install it!
This script and database are to be used only as an aide for individuals doing exercises published on the Wise Owl website or included in a Wise Owl course. Neither this script nor the database it generates may be distributed in whole or in part in any format whatsoever without the prior written permission of Wise Owl Business Solutions Ltd (this prohibition specifically prohibits the use of our exercises to train others).
Note that you may not need to follow all of the steps below, which are included for completeness. The steps assume that you have installed Postgres and also PgAdmin (Postgres Admin, the front-end interface to Postgres),
Before you create the music database, first check that you don't already have a version of it installed:

Right-click on Databases to refresh the list, then right-click on the music_01 database if you see it to drop it.
Now create a new query (you can usually do this by pressing Shift + Alt + Q, or by right-clicking on one of the remaining databases and choosing Query Tool. Type in the following command and press F5 to run it:
CREATE DATABASE Music_01;
When you right-click to refresh your list of databases you should now see music_01 listed:

The music database won't appear till you refresh the list.
It's vital that you now create a query in the newly created music database, otherwise your tables will end up in the wrong place:

Right-click on the music_01 database and choose to create a query.
Open the file in the folder referenced at the start of this exercise in an application like NotePad, and copy all of the text in it:

The start of the (long) text.
Paste this into your new blank query window:

The start of the script.
Press F5 to run this query. You should soon see something like this to show it has worked:

This means everything went OK!
To check this has worked, expand the music_01 database node in Object Explorer to see its contents, and right-click to refresh the tables in the public schema:

Right-click as shown to list out the tables you've just created.
You're now ready to use this database for any exercise!
