You need a minimum screen resolution of about 700 pixels width to see our exercises. This is because they contain diagrams and tables which would not be viewable easily on a mobile phone or small laptop. Please use a larger tablet, notebook or desktop computer, or change your screen resolution settings.
The folder above contains a database and an Excel spreadsheet. Open the spreadsheet and add yourself to it (you are now a billionaire - feel free to lie about your age, wealth and native country).
Feel free to invent facts, following the trend shown above
Save this spreadsheet, then import it into a new table in the Access database calling it NewBillionaires.
Create an append query to add all of the records in the imported table to the Billionaires table. You will need to make a few adjustments in the process:
- Set the position field to 101 for all of the new billionaires.
- Divide the wealth by 1,000,000,000, since the units for the Access table are in billions.
- You will find that one of the country fields is named differently, and needs mapping onto the correct field in the append query.
Save this query as AppendBillionaires, then run it and close it down.
Check that the Billionaires table contains two new people.
