Before you can do this exercise, you'll need to download and unzip this file (if you have any problems doing this, click here for help).

You need a minimum screen resolution of about 700 pixels width to see our exercises. This is because they contain diagrams and tables which would not be viewable easily on a mobile phone or small laptop. Please use a larger tablet, notebook or desktop computer, or change your screen resolution settings.

Create a report which allows you to list out all of the actors born in a particular month and year:

What you should see if you choose August 1969

Note that you should allow your user to choose a day to colour pink - in the above diagram it was Monday.

If that wasn't hard enough, get Reporting Services to display a message if you choose an unpopular month:

What you should see if you choose a month in which no actors were born

Heave a big sigh of relief, save your report as Actors by birth month, and close it down.

You can unzip this file to see the answers to this exercise, although please remember this is for your personal use only.
