Often, when you create a KPI in Power Pivot, it appears in an Excel pivot table as a set of numbers rather than the icons you wanted:
I wanted this KPI to s=display icons, but it shows 1, -1 and 0 instead.
To fix this, simply remove the KPI status field from the pivot table then immediately add it back in.
Remove and then replace the Status field.
This will make the KPI display the icons you asked for.
