There are times you want to hide a total (or subtotal) from a visual. The table below shows the Sum of Qty for each FamilyName with a total row at the bottom.
We want the total in this table to be blank.
One way to do this is to use a measure to test if the FamilyName column is applying a filter to the value and, if not, make the result blank. You can use the ISFILTERED function to test if a column is applying a filter.
If the value is filtered by the FamilyName, show the sum of Quantity, otherwise show a BLANK.
Adding this measure to the table suppresses the value on the Total row because this row is not being filtered by the FamilyName column.
Your new measure has hidden the total.
Of course, you could instead just disable the Total row of the table entirely using the Format visual pane!
