When using a Power BI gauge visual, the maximum value at the end of the scale is set to double the gauge's value by default.
The gauge always appears to be half-full.
When you then filter the gauge using a slicer not only is the value shown affected but the maximum value is too.
You can see the maximum value has now changed to double the gauge value.
You can fix the maximum value of a gauge by entering a Max value in the Gauge axis properties.
You can enter a value for any of these properties.
As your data refreshes or changes you may find that the value you set is no longer suitable.
Another option is to create a measure to calculate the maximum value. The example below calculates the number of films and removes the filter applied by the Certificate column.
The above measure will return a value that is unaffected by the slicer.
Add the measure to the Maximum value bucket for the gauge.
Add the measure to the Maximum value bucket.
The result is a gauge whose bar will move when you filter it.
The maximum value will remain static but the gauge value will change for any selections made in the slicer.
