Before you can do this exercise, you'll need to download and unzip this file (if you have any problems doing this, click here for help).

You need a minimum screen resolution of about 700 pixels width to see our exercises. This is because they contain diagrams and tables which would not be viewable easily on a mobile phone or small laptop. Please use a larger tablet, notebook or desktop computer, or change your screen resolution settings.

If you haven't already done so, run the SQL script in the above folder (copying and commercial use prohibited) to generate a database called MAM

Create a new workbook, and within this a data model looking something like this:

The product data model

Your data model doesn't have to look exactly like this, but should include these tables.

Now create a calculated field to rank the number of transactions by animal, with the lowest-selling animal first, and show this in a pivot table:

Sales by animal

If you haven't covered the RANKX function, you'll need to read the chapter in your courseware manual to do this.

Save this workbook as That was rank, and close it down.

You can unzip this file to see the answers to this exercise, although please remember this is for your personal use only.
