How to use default values to run from here in Power Automate Desktop

When adding either the Display input dialog or Display select date dialog actions to a Power Automate Desktop (PAD) flow you can set a default value.

This value will be used should the user not enter a value.

You can see a default value of 0 has been set for this Input dialog action.

You can do the same for the Display select dialog action with a slight difference.

You can set a default value manually or leave blank and it will default to the current date.

These default values can prove very useful when testing your flow.

In PAD you often have to go through a flow entering values to then test if the writing process works later in the flow.

This flow has not yet been run, therefore the variables do not have values.

You can choose to run a flow from a selected action using the default values you have entered, as shown in the diagram below:

When you click the 3 dots for an action you will find the option to run the flow from the selected action, using the default values.

This will allow me to check that my process for writing to Excel works without having to run all the Input actions.

The flow finished without errors and upon checking the Excel file I can see the latest entry that uses the default values.
