Get the tables in an Excel workbook and pick out the names

This exercise is provided to allow potential course delegates to choose the correct Wise Owl Microsoft training course, and may not be reproduced in whole or in part in any format without the prior written consent of Wise Owl.

Before you can do this exercise, you'll need to download and unzip this file.

Add the Excel workbook in the above folder into OneDrive:

Adding a file

Choose this option, then choose the workbook in the folder shown above.

Create a flow called Exercise NN - list tables which uses the Excel Get tables action to list all of the tables in this flow. Run your flow to see what output it gives:

The JSON generated includes a number of bits of information about each table - including the table name.

Add a Select action to pick out just the table name, a Compose action to collate these results and a Send Email action to email these to yourself, then run this flow:

You may wonder why the Compose action is necessary (we do!). If you don't include this, and attempt to pick up on the output of the Select action directly in your Send Email action Power Automate will automatically create an unwanted Apply to Each loop, looping over each table name (much more on these later in the course)

Rearrange the table names in your head to create a sentence giving some helpful life advice for all situations (this shouldn't take long!), then return to the Power Automate home page.
