Create, rename and copy a file using a file system connection

This exercise is provided to allow potential course delegates to choose the correct Wise Owl Microsoft training course, and may not be reproduced in whole or in part in any format without the prior written consent of Wise Owl.

Start by creating a manually triggered flow called File fun, and add a Create file action to it using a file system connection:

Read on for how to configure the parameters for this action.

Change the connection used by your Create file action, creating a new one:

Click on the link shown to choose a different connection.

Configure your connection to connect to your desktop:

You'll need to change some of the details to suit your computer's settings.

Run your flow to check it creates a file with the given name.

Now add another action to rename this file to What will actually happen.txt (use the file id returned from the previous Create file action to determine which file to rename):

Add the action shown above to rename the file created by the previous action.

Make sure that the two file system actions use the same connection (you may find that the Rename file action defaults to the wrong connection, and you need to change this).

Return to the Power Automate home page, reflecting on the truth of the old saying (wrongly attributed to John Lennon) that life is what happens to you while you're making other plans.
