What type of SQL do you speak? We now train on MySQL, and will consider adding other dialects

For many years we've only taught SQL within Microsoft's SQL Server Management Studio, but are now expanding our repertoire to include MySQL (and will consider adding SQL courses for Postgres and Oracle too). This blog gives the details!

This month's Power BI update, what's coming to Power Query and writing quick measures using Copilot

September's Power BI Desktop update included an improvement to mobile layout, but that's about it (although we've noticed an undocumented change to brackets in DAX). Of more interest is the white paper from Microsoft listing changes coming to Power Query, including a new conditional split transform. But perhaps most exciting is the fact that you can now generate quick measures using Microsoft's Copilot AI tool within Power BI - judge for yourself whether this will help you or not.

Our videos channel has now reached the important milestone of 200,000 subscribers

Since Andrew Gould created our first video (on custom date formats in Excel, as it happens, on 21st October 2011) our videos have clocked up over 27 million views, and we now have 200,000 subscribers. And that's just the beginning of the statistics...

Who doesn't like a good logic puzzle? 5 friends went trick-or-treating in 5 different costumes. Each visited a different house, and was given a different treat. Can you work out who got what, and where, given just 6 clues? As always, the winning entry (chosen at random from all of the correct answers received) will earn the sender a £50 Amazon voucher and a mention in next month's newsletter.
