Open the file contained within the folder name shown above.
Create a new pivot table on a new sheet to include:
Postcodes in the rows
Location in the column
Asking price as the values
Other useful fields in the filter area
The initial pivot table will look something like this:
We want to group the postcodes into SK13, SK14 etc groups.
First make sure the postcodes are sorted in A-Z order and also make sure you have no filters set.
Then select all the SK13 postcode cells (there should be 26 of them) and ask to group them. Rename the group header name (currently called Group1) to SK13 PostCodes.
Overtype Group 1 with SK13 Postcodes.
Repeat these steps for each postcode group.
If there is a postcode that only has one member in the group, you will not need to group it - just rename the existing group header.
You can now rename the field header name for the new grouped postcodes. To do this click on the row field currently called PostCode2 and choose Field Settings...
We want a better name than PostCode2!
When you've renamed the new group, move the new field in to the filter area and ask Excel to only show the properties for the SK14 postcode with a large garden:
New groups can be filtered in the same way as other existing fields.
Rename the worksheet tab to SK14 large gardens pivot.
Use Save As... to save the file in your own new Excel work folder.
