Use your IPhone on Windows with the Phone Link app |
---|
iPhone users will soon be able to make calls and answer messages on their laptops, with the release of Phone Link for iPhones. |
You can already use the Phone Link app for Android to reply to text messages, make and receive calls and view notifications:
The Phone Link app for Android.
If you're an IPhone user, you'll be excited to know that Phone Link for iPhone is also coming to your desktop soon too (it's currently in preview).
If you join the Windows Insider program you can get an early version of the software to try, but all the reviews posted online suggest that this is still quite buggy.
So (as one example) you'll be able to drag photos onto your phone without even using it:
An example screen from the Microsoft blog announcing the new app, giving an example of its use to send and receive messages.
Here's what you'll need to use iPhone Link:
Area | Requirement |
---|---|
Operating system (phone) | iOS 14 or higher |
Operating system (laptop) | Windows 11 |
Connection | Bluetooth |
Note, however, that iPhone Link won't work for iPads or for Macs.
Suddenly my iPhone 12 is looking a bit dated ...
