Adding Wise Owl training certificates to LinkedIn |
---|
Step-by-step instructions for how to show on your LinkedIn profile proof of the Wise Owl courses that you've attended. |
In this blog
If you've just been on a Wise Owl training course, youi'll want to show off your new skills on LinkedIn. This blog shows you how to do this!
Training certificates appear at the bottom of your LinkedIn profile, and let people know that you've attended courses. I've shown how to view your course certificates in LinkedIn towards the bottom of this blog..
Before you begin, I'm going to make two assumptions:
That you've got a LinkedIn account; and
That you've received a link from Wise Owl to your certificate.
Your email containing the link will look something like this:
The wording of this email may change over time, but the link shouldn't.
This being the case, all that you need to do is to click on this link. For those who like to see what they're doing, here's the link in full:
You can then fill in the form which appears:
See below for how to fill in each part of this form.
Here's what to put in each box:
Box/question | What to put |
---|---|
Name | The name of the course you attended (as on your certificate). |
Certification authority | Wise Owl Training (this shlould be autocompleted when you type it in). |
Issue date | Choose the month and year when the course took place. |
Expiration date | Choose the month and year when the knowledge that you learned will no longer be valid. Setting these 3 years into the future seems a sensible default. |
Credential ID | Leave this blank. |
Certification URL | Paste in the link that you've been sent. |
Skills | Click on the button to add any skills relevant to this (it should be reasonably obvious what to type). |
Media | Ignore the Add media button. |
Here's what your final form might look like:
A sample final form.
Finally, click on the Save button to save your changes.
You can now choose whether to post your news on LinkedIn:
Choose the big shiny obvious Next button on the right or the faint grey Skip button on the left!
If you scroll down you should see a Licences & certifications heading:
Your new certificate should appear here.
If you click on the Show credential button you will be taken to a Wise Owl website page:
The page for your certificate.
The URL has an encoded licence key, so it's almost impossible to fake. If you click on the View certiciate link above you'll see your certificate, which you can save or print:
Your certificate!
