Power BI Desktop updates for March 2025 Part four of a five-part series of blogs |
---|
These updates were announced in the dying hours of the last day of March, presumably as part of the Fabric Community conference in Las Vega.

You can now shade the area above or below reference lines, and move this in front of or behind a chart:
See below for the settings for each of these percentile lines.
As a quick reminder, here's how you can set a reference line for a chart:
Use the right-hand Analytics icon to set reference lines.
You can then choose to add a line, and then select it to configure it:
Here we've already added two lines, and are about to add another.
Note that as part of the March update you can now set reference lines for the Y axis of line and clustered charts also.
You can choose to shade the area above or below a reference line:
In our example the top 90th percentile line has area shading After the reference line, and the bottom 10th percentile line has area shading Before it. I think these options make sense, although part of me thinks they should be the other way round.
Here is the option to position a reference line in front of or behind a chart:
In our example the top 90th percentile line is in front of the chart and the bottom 10th percentile line behind it.
It's great being able to shade (for example) the 95th and 5th percentiles on a line chart: a small but welcome update.
