New features in the Power BI November 2022 update
Part four of a five-part series of blogs
This update includes the roll-out of field parameters, separate Y axes for small multiples and new DAX debugging functions - and a new colour for Power BI!
Small multiples are great, but the fact that each chart uses the same Y axis can create strange effects:
The figures for Mammal sales dwarf those for Insect sales, making the Insect chart meaningless.
You can now change two default options to get round this:
Turn the Shared y-axis off for your chart(so that each small multiple chart can use a different Y axis), then turn Scale to fit on so that each chart will look similar.
For this example, you would now get this:
The chart is misleading, as it suggest that all the animal families have similar sales, but you can compare trends over time more clearly.
I really like this tweak to small multiples! But can I use this page to request another change: an option to display a substitute message or image for small multiples where there is insufficient data to show a meaningful chart?
