Before you can do this exercise, you'll need to download and unzip this file (if you have any problems doing this, click here for help).

You need a minimum screen resolution of about 700 pixels width to see our exercises. This is because they contain diagrams and tables which would not be viewable easily on a mobile phone or small laptop. Please use a larger tablet, notebook or desktop computer, or change your screen resolution settings.

Open the file called WODA Application.xlsx.  Your task is to write code to transfer the details entered on Sheet1 to the end of the list on Sheet2.

Details to copy

You can alter the details on Sheet1 if you'd like to test different values.

One approach you could take would be to:

  • Copy the name from cell C4 on Sheet1.
  • Select Sheet2.
  • Use End and Offset to reach the next blank cell in column A.
  • Paste the copied value into this cell (use PasteSpecial to do this).
  • Repeat this process for each of the other details.
Copied value

After copying the first value, your list should look like this.

If that felt like a long-winded approach you could write a new subroutine which uses this approach:

  • Copy range C4:C7 on Sheet1.
  • Select Sheet2.
  • Use End and Offset to reach the next blank cell in column A.
  • Use the PasteSpecial method to transpose the copied data.

The code to transpose the copied cells is:

ActiveCell.PasteSpecial Transpose:=True

Alter the details on Sheet1 and run the subroutine again to check that it still works.

Final list

Your list should grow each time you run the subroutine.

Save and close the file.
