Before you can do this exercise, you'll need to download and unzip this file (if you have any problems doing this, click here for help).

You need a minimum screen resolution of about 700 pixels width to see our exercises. Please use a larger tablet, notebook or desktop computer, or change your screen resolution settings.

Open the file contained within the folder name shown above.

We want to create a formula to calculate the order cost using the price in cell G3

In cell D4, create a formula to calculate the order cost and copy it down the rest of the column.  Use this to help you:

Order Cost = Quantity * Price

Remember that you want to multiply by the price, absolutely every time!  So you need to use the \$ signs.

Change the price in cell G3 to £18.45 to check that your formula is working correctly as shown below:

When you change the price, all the order costs should change.

Use Save As... to save the file in your own new Excel work folder.
