Before you can do this exercise, you'll need to download and unzip this file (if you have any problems doing this, click here for help).

You need a minimum screen resolution of about 700 pixels width to see our exercises. This is because they contain diagrams and tables which would not be viewable easily on a mobile phone or small laptop. Please use a larger tablet, notebook or desktop computer, or change your screen resolution settings.

Create two stored procedures:

  • One called spDropDownCertificate to list the film certificates (if you order them by the CertificateId field, they should appear in a sensible order); and
  • One called spFilmsForCertificate to list the films for a given certificate id.

Use these to create the following report (called Brian, say) so that initially you have to choose a certificate:

Certificate dropdown

The Value field is the CertificateId, whereas the Label field (the one visible) is CertificateName.

When you choose to view the report, you should then see all of the films for this certificate:

Films for given certificate

What you should see if you choose U films, say. Notice that the title has been customised to show the Label for the parameter value chosen.
