SQL | Archived exercise | SP to create a new event

Before you can do this exercise, you'll need to download and unzip this file (if you have any problems doing this, click here for help).

You need a minimum screen resolution of about 700 pixels width to see our exercises. This is because they contain diagrams and tables which would not be viewable easily on a mobile phone or small laptop. Please use a larger tablet, notebook or desktop computer, or change your screen resolution settings.

If you haven't already done so, run the script in the above folder to create the HistoricalEvents database.

You can add a record to a table using an INSERT statement: the example below would add an event to the tblEvent table:

Creates an event for the death of Cyril Smith in the UK

Using this as a guide, write a stored procedure which will add any event (defaulting to the UK unless a specific country id is used).

Use this stored procedure to add the following two events:

Save your stored procedure as Create a new event.sql, then close it down.
