Before you can do this exercise, you'll need to download and unzip this file (if you have any problems doing this, click here for help).

You need a minimum screen resolution of about 700 pixels width to see our exercises. This is because they contain diagrams and tables which would not be viewable easily on a mobile phone or small laptop. Please use a larger tablet, notebook or desktop computer, or change your screen resolution settings.

Open the file in the above folder, and go to the Inputs sheet.

Create the skeleton structure for a one-way data table as shown below.  This must be on the same sheet as the cell whose value you are varying (in this case, the initial investment in cell F15).

The next stage is to fill in the green cells!

Create a one-way data table comparing the NPV and IRR for different initial investments:

Somewhere shortly after £60,000 this project stops becoming attractive
