Power BI November 2021 Update
Part one of a six-part series of blogs

This month's update is a biggie, with the introduction of a page navigator and a bookmark navigator, but it's the new formatting pane waiting in preview which will really changes people's lives.

  1. Power BI November 2021 Update (this blog)
  2. Preview features: new formatting pane and scorecard visual
  3. Create a page navigator
  4. Bookmark navigators
  5. Two small improvements to charts
  6. Text boxes support bullet points and superscript/subscript

We've been creating our idiosyncratic monthly blogs on Power BI updates since November 2016, and also deliver online and classroom Power BI courses.

Power BI November 2021 Update

This month's update is a big one, but the biggest change (how often have I written this?) is now waiting in preview: completely new formatting cards.

Because the new formatting cards will have such a big impact and are such a good innovation, I've broken my self-imposed rule and included them - at least in summary - in this blog.

Here are the changes introduced in this month's update:

Change Details
Formatting tools and scorecards This month includes two new preview features: scorecards (which are really more of a Power BI Service tool) and the wonderful new formatting pane.
Page navigators You can now create buttons allowing users to navigate between pages of your report, which Power BI will keep up to date as you add, rename and delete pages.
Bookmark navigators Similarly you can now create an automatic menu to list all of the bookmarks in a group, making it easier to give your report users choices of what they want to see.
Two small chart improvements You can now change the start angle for drawing pie and donut charts, and also sort the legend of stacked or clustered charts.
Improvements to text boxes You can now add bullet points to text boxes, and also use superscript or subscript fonts.

As always, you can see details of all of the Power BI training we offer here.
