Winner of (and stats for) the September 2021 newsletter quiz
Congratulations to Susan Howard of Underscore Training for winning this month's competition (hers was the answer drawn by our calibrated, randomised Excel sorting hat). You can see some statistics on the quiz - and details of the calibration involved - at this blog.

Winner of (and stats for) September's quiz

Last month's competition was a quiz consisting of 24 questions.

The average number of correct answers given was 11.7, or less than half, showing that we set the bar a bit high.  Apologies for making the questions so difficult this time round!

The question most people answered correctly (76%) was this one:

Tesla Edison war

The answer: whether to adopt AC or DC current as the electricity standard.

The question fewest people got right (15%) was this one:

Nelson Mandela question

The only fact which isn't true: Nelson Mandela's father never kept a pet leopard on a chain in the family home (not as far as I know, anyway).

Congratulations to Susan Howard of Underscore Training, who wins this month's £50 Amazon voucher.  Out of 40 entries received, hers was the name drawn out of the randomised Excel hat (adjusted so that people's chances of winning were proportional to how well they did in the quiz).
