Answers and winner for our May 2021 film reviews competition
We thought that this was a great idea for a competition, but it seems our reading public didn't agree, as we only received entries from 7 people (although these were of a high standard). Andrew Gould (legendary creator of the Wise Owl movies database) deemed these 5 reviews to be the best:
Position | Film | Review |
---|---|---|
1 | Die Hard | "The greatest Christmas movie of all time. If you don't agree, I'll make you watch Die Hard 4." |
2 | Apollo 13 | "Houston, we have a problem: an understated assessment of being in a broken spaceship on the way to the moon. A star-packed cast recreate the mission to bring the astronauts home using only 1960s computers, a biro and a used condom - okay, I may have recalled the latter items incorrectly but, whatever they were, it was an out-of-this-world achievement [see what I did there!])." |
3 | 2012 | "This movie is a disaster." |
4 | Skyfall | "Home Alone for adults." |
5 | Avatar | "If you're a fan of Mother Nature and also want to know what a grown-up Smurf's life is like, then this is the film you've been waiting for." |
Congratulations to Andrew Kenyon of NICE for supplying the winning review, and winning this month's £50 Amazon voucher. Yippee-Ki-Yay! (I won't complete the quote, as this is a family-oriented website).
