The answer to (and winner of) our September newsletter word search competition
The winner of our newsletter competition this month is Vincent Vaughan of Public Health England, who wins a fifty-pound voucher. The word search contained all 50 states of the USA, along with a hidden quotation.

The answer to the September 2020 newsletter competition

Thanks to everyone who entered last month's competition.  The word search contained all 50 states of the USA:

Maybe I should have coloured them according to their likelihood of voting Republican or Democrat in a couple of weeks' time?

The unused letters, read from left to right and top to bottom, spelt out this quote attributed to Winston Churchill:

An appeaser feeds a crocodile hoping it will eat him last

As with all these things, however, he never actually said exactly these words.

The first name out of the sorting hat this month was Vincent Vaughan of Public Health England, who wins this month's £50 Amazon voucher.

If employees of Public Health England keep winning this competition every month, the integrity of the judges (and randomness of the Wise Owl sorting hat) will be called into question.  I promise the winner is chosen completely at random!
