COVID-19: Choose between our familiar (but now socially distanced) classroom training courses and our excellent new live online courses.
There are only two small changes in the September 2020 Power BI Desktop update
Part three of a three-part series of blogs

You can now add total labels to a stacked or combination chart, and there are improvements to mobile layout, but in truth there's not much to get excited about for the September 2020 Power BI update.

You need a minimum screen resolution of about 700 pixels width to see our blogs. This is because they contain diagrams and tables which would not be viewable easily on a mobile phone or small laptop. Please use a larger tablet, notebook or desktop computer, or change your screen resolution settings.

Various changes to mobile layout and the mobile app

We're not big fans of mobile layout - what's the point, when you can view normal reports in the Power BI app on a phone, and they look so good?  However ...

Fine adjustment

The biggest problem with mobile layout has always been the grid, which allowed so few visuals to co-exist on the same screen.  You can now turn the grid off, and stop snapping to it:

If you untick these two options, you can position visuals anywhere you want on screen.

You can now click on any bookmark to see the effect it will have within mobile view:

How useful this will prove to be I'm not sure!

This blog focuses on Power BI Desktop, but Microsoft have made a number of improvements to the Power BI app for IPhone and Android too.
