You need a minimum screen resolution of about 700 pixels width to see our blogs. This is because they contain diagrams and tables which would not be viewable easily on a mobile phone or small laptop. Please use a larger tablet, notebook or desktop computer, or change your screen resolution settings.

New features in Outlook between 2016 and May 2019

There aren't many changes to Outlook - I've listed the ones which may be of interest below.

A caveat to this: there are a few changes to appointments and calendars, which will only show up if you use Exchange Server and use Outlook for managing your schedules.  We don't!  See this Microsoft page for the full list of Outlook changes between Outlook 2016 and May 2019.

Marking deleted messages as read

When you delete messages, you don't necessarily want them to be marked as unread.  You can change this by ticking this box:

Marked as unread

Select File => Options, then tick the box shown to avoid deleted messages appearing in bold (ie as unread).

Displaying reminders on top of other windows

You can tell Outlook to display reminders on top of all other windows:

Reminders on top

Select File => Options, then tick the box shown above to show reminders above all other windows.

Changes not specific to Outlook

In addition to the changes listed above, don't forget the following new features which I listed in the general Office page at the start of this blog series:

Change Notes
Animated graphics Insert a 3-dimensional model, and click and drag on it to make your picture come to life!
Accessibility There is a huge array of new accessibility options to make it easier to use Office applications with a disability.
