12 best Times Cryptic Crossword clues of the last 5 years?

I've been doing cryptic crosswords for over 40 years, and have always found the Times puzzle the most enjoyable.  The aim of this blog is to share my enthusiasm for its wit and ingenuity by listing (and explaining) my 12 favourite clues from the last 5 years.

I've also included lots of clues which made my top 100, but not my top 12, and given answers and explanations for how they all work.  Happy reading!

"Frenchman has an assignation in a flat, but not for long" (4-1-5)

Pied-a-terre (PIE-d a te-RRE)
