SSAS - MULTIDIMENSIONAL EXERCISES▼
SSAS - multidimensional | Dimensions exercise | Create region dimension
This exercise is provided to allow potential course delegates to choose the correct Wise Owl Microsoft training course, and may not be reproduced in whole or in part in any format without the prior written consent of Wise Owl.
You need a minimum screen resolution of about 700 pixels width to see our exercises. This is because they contain diagrams and tables which would not be viewable easily on a mobile phone or small laptop. Please use a larger tablet, notebook or desktop computer, or change your screen resolution settings.
For this exercise you'll need a data source view containing at least the following tables:
We'll allow browsing by region and by store, so we need the intermediate tables
Create a dimension which allows you to choose to browse stores by region name or store name as shown below:
You can choose to show the Store or Region hierarchy
Note that you will have to include the TownId and CentreId attributes in your dimension, even though you don't want them to appear in the hierarchy drop down list, and then set their AttributeHierarchyVisible property to False.
Save and close all windows.
