Copilot 365 has improved hugely over the last year or so Part four of a six-part series of blogs |
|---|
|
We first reviewed Copilot 365 in May 2024, and were ... disappointed. A year and a bit on, and we're pleased to report the software is better in every way except cost, although it still has more than its fair share of foibles.
|
Time now to switch our attention to Word and PowerPoint. Our test OneDrive folder contains a Word document containing a take on the Little Red Riding Hood story:

The beginning of the story (it ends badly in this version).
What I thought I'd do is ask Copilot to create a presentation summarising the main themes (this seems to be exactly the sort of thing that Copilot was put on this earth to do):

I've asked Copilot to summarise my document and present the results in a PowerPoint presentation.
A year and a bit ago Copilot just said it couldn't help with this. Now I get this:

This is exactly the sort of thing I was after.
I then asked Copilot to produce the presentation, but with bulleted lists on each slide, and got this bizarre response:

How did Copilot manage to misinterpret my request so badly?
Why does Copilot keep doing so well, raising my hopes, and then disappoint so badly? Let's try again:

I've tried to be as clear as I can!
Copilot then proceeded to create an excellent presentation, but based on the traditional Red Riding Hood story. So I tried again:

I replied that I wanted Copilot to "summarise the content of the story".
This is getting ridiculous!

It's as if Copilot keeps suffering memory lapses!
I then pointed Copilot to my original Word document, at which point it summarised this in text format only and in despair I gave up.
