Microsoft would really rather you didn't write macros within Excel, Access and the likes using VBA, but used Visual Studio Tools for Office or VSTO instead.  If you want help, we can provide either VSTO training courses or help with developing systems using Visual Studio Tools for Office:

If you're previously programmed using VB or C# in Visual Studio you'll know what to expect, but if you come from a VBA background you have a little bit of a learning curve ahead of you.

The good news is that Visual Studio provides a much nicer environment in which to program.  Things which are better include:

• The language itself (both VB and C# are better languages than VBA)
• Intellisense (Visual Studio will automatically indent code for you, for example)
• Security

However, there is a price to be paid for all of this: you will have to deploy applications.  Microsoft have tried their hardest to make this as easy as possible, but nothing could be easier than just saving an Excel workbook (which is all that you have to do using VBA).
