Visual Basic - training versions

Wise Owl Visual Basic training courses currently use Visual Basic 2010 and Visual Studio 2010 (at the time of writing, the latest versions).  However, there is very little difference between versions 2008 and 2010 of VB.

What Notes
Visual Basic 2010 courses

Visual Basic 2010 includes a few new features which make coding quicker (there's no need for continuation characters, for example), but hasn't changed much otherwise since VB 2008.

Classes in Visual Basic 2008

As a programming language, Visual Basic 2008 didn't introduce many changes - click on the link if you wan to find out more about our VB 2008 courses.

Visual Basic 2005 courses

Visual Basic 2005 is the version of VB on which we used to run our training courses; however, we've now updated all of our .NET courses to VB 2010.

Courses in VB.NET

VB.NET was the initial name Microsoft gave to their .NET incarnation of the Visual Basic programming language (many people called VB.NET Visual Basic 7, as it continued on from Visual Basic 6).

If you want to learn about features specific to later versions of VB, ask us about onsite training in Visual Basic.  The topics which spring to mind which aren't covered on our standard courses are:

  • AJAX training (worth a scheduled course in its own right, which it will get some time!)
  • Silverlight training

Clearly this could be a very long list!
