You need a minimum screen resolution of about 700 pixels width to see our exercises. This is because they contain diagrams and tables which would not be viewable easily on a mobile phone or small laptop. Please use a larger tablet, notebook or desktop computer, or change your screen resolution settings.

Open the PowerPoint presentation in the above folder.  Feel free to press the F5 function key to run the slide show if you should so desire!  Your aim is now to produce an Excel workbook containing summary slide information for this PowerPoint presentation, looking something like this:

Advanced VBA exercise - Links to other applications (image 1)

Your workbook does not have to be neatly formatted like this

To achieve this, first create a module within this presentation, and within this create a subroutine called something like ListSlideInformationInExcel.

Reference the correct Microsoft Excel object library!

Write your subroutine so that it:

  • Creates a new Excel workbook
  • Puts a heading row at the top
  • Loops over all the slides in the ActivePresentation, writing the names for each and the number of slides to the Excel workbook

Each slide has a Shapes collection, so something like ThisSlide.Shapes.Count would give you the number of slides.

Save your presentation with the same name, then close it down.
