Exercise: Create a matrix based on a cube, with conditional formats

Before you can do this exercise, you'll need to download and unzip this file (if you have any problems doing this, click here for help).

You need a minimum screen resolution of about 700 pixels width to see our exercises. This is because they contain diagrams and tables which would not be viewable easily on a mobile phone or small laptop. Please use a larger tablet, notebook or desktop computer, or change your screen resolution settings.

If you haven't already done so, restore the database in the above folder into Analysis Services in Management Studio (not for copying or commercial use). The database should contain 3 dimensions and one cube called MAM

Create the following matrix:

Any cells containing a transaction count which is more than the average transaction count for the dataset should be coloured. 

 

Note that you can get at the average number of transactions for the dataset by using an expression similar to=avg(Fields!Tbl_Transaction_Count.Value,"DataSet1").

Save this report as The Matrix Reloaded, then close it down.
