Before you can do this exercise, you'll need to download and unzip this file (if you have any problems doing this, click here for help).

You need a minimum screen resolution of about 700 pixels width to see our exercises. This is because they contain diagrams and tables which would not be viewable easily on a mobile phone or small laptop. Please use a larger tablet, notebook or desktop computer, or change your screen resolution settings.

If you haven't already done so, restore the database in the above folder into Analysis Services in Management Studio (not for copying or commercial use).  The database should contain 3 dimensions and one cube called MAM.

Create a report which consists of a single table listing out total quantity sold by species and year:

Report by species and year

You'll need to insert a row at the top of your report, and merge its cells to get the title.

Now apply interactive sorting so that you can sort each column easily:

Interactive sorting

Here we've sorted the data in descending quantity sold order.

To do this, think where you would right-click to apply interactive sorting.

Save this report as Simple table, then close it down.
