Exercise: Create a map of transactions by town/region, with drill-down
This exercise is provided to allow potential course delegates to choose the correct Wise Owl Microsoft training course, and may not be reproduced in whole or in part in any format without the prior written consent of Wise Owl.

You need a minimum screen resolution of about 700 pixels width to see our exercises. This is because they contain diagrams and tables which would not be viewable easily on a mobile phone or small laptop. Please use a larger tablet, notebook or desktop computer, or change your screen resolution settings.
If you haven't already done so, run the SQL script in the above folder (copying and commercial use prohibited) to generate a database called MAM. Also if you haven't already done so, run the spCreateCalendarTable stored procedure to create a calendar table.
Create a new workbook, and within this import the following tables:
The tables needed for our data model.
In these tables, create two new columns as shown called Region and Town, to give region and town names with a UK suffix.
Now use these two new columns to create the following map (in Power View, not Power Map), showing the number of transactions by town and region:
The Region field is the vertical multiple, and we've applied a filter to show only towns having 5 or more stores.
Add the Town field to the Locations column so that you can double-click on a slice:
Here we're showing all transactions for Reading.
This will then drill-down to show all of the transactions for this town:
You can undo this to return to the previous map.
Save this workbook as Did it crash though, and close it down.
