Exercise: Create a pivot table with timeline to show sales by quadrant

Before you can do this exercise, you'll need to download and unzip this file (if you have any problems doing this, click here for help).

You need a minimum screen resolution of about 700 pixels width to see our exercises. This is because they contain diagrams and tables which would not be viewable easily on a mobile phone or small laptop. Please use a larger tablet, notebook or desktop computer, or change your screen resolution settings.

If you haven't already done so, run the SQL script in the above folder in SQL Server Management Studio to generate a database (not for commercial use or copying) called MAM.

Create a pivot table to show the total quantity of transactions by quadrant, with a timeline restricting the figures to those for the last two quarters of 2013 and the first two quarters of 2014:

Quadrants are the next level of aggregation up from regions. We've also only imported data for shopping centres having 100 units or more, and have hidden any (Blank) rows from the resulting pivot table.
