Before you can do this exercise, you'll need to download and unzip this file (if you have any problems doing this, click here for help).

You need a minimum screen resolution of about 700 pixels width to see our exercises. This is because they contain diagrams and tables which would not be viewable easily on a mobile phone or small laptop. Please use a larger tablet, notebook or desktop computer, or change your screen resolution settings.

The aim of this exercise is to create the following report:

Directors for date parameters

The report should show all of the directors born between two given dates.

First create a stored procedure called spDirectorsCut to show all of the directors born between two parameters (@MinDob and @MaxDob, say).

Create a report called Directors Cut (with apologies to Vicki for the lack of apostrophe) based on this stored procedure.  For the title, you'll need to use an expression similar to:

="Directors born between " &
format(Parameters!MinDob.Value,"dd/MM/yyyy") & " and " &
format(Parameters!MaxDob.Value,"dd/MM/yyyy")

What happens if you enter two dates which return no directors?  Customise the NoRows properties of the table to allow for this:

NoRows message set

An example of what you might see if you enter invalid dates.

Close your report down!
